inane ramblings in order to discover something...or just kill time

Tuesday, February 07, 2006

So we all know about my letter yesterday to KRTH in regards to "what makes an oldie an oldie". Welp, within 10 hours of my mail inquiry, the response came thundering back:

Dear Russell,

Thank you so very much for your recent email to our web site.

No, there isn't any particular year that defines a song as an oldie. Recent songs can be considered oldies as well as tunes from decades back.

We will tell Shotgun hello for you!

Thanks again for the good words,

Wha? Wait....WHA? Let me read that again, in case I had another ministroke and misread:

"Recent songs can be considered oldies as well as tunes from decades back."

So, you're telling me some crapass Fallout Boy single recorded 8 months ago can be considered an oldie? What about songs not yet released? What about the single that Christina Aguillera has festering in her abused, barren womb? An oldie? MAYBE, apparently.

Also, the idea that some jerkass, 25 year old station manager is actually showing my email to Shotgun Tom, and they're laughing about what a freaking cumstain I am might perterb me a little bit. But, hey, I brought it upon myself.

Don't get too upset Rusty, perhaps the nickname "Shotgun Tom" will some day become ironic.
